David Manning
Director, Stakeholder Relations
David Manning is Director of Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Stakeholder Relations Office.
Since joining Brookhaven in 2015, Mr. Manning has been responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing strategic internal and external communications plans and programs to advance the scientific mission and priority programs to help increase support for the Lab’s programs and priority projects. He is also responsible for overseeing science education and workforce development programs to fulfill the Lab’s and U.S. Department of Energy’s education and diversity goals.
Mr. Manning has worked in both government and the private sector—deeply involved in energy issues.
In the fall of 2023, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul appointed Mr. Manning to the Board of Trustees for the Long Island Power Authority—the nation’s fourth largest public power utility.
Previously, he served as the Deputy Minister of Energy for Alberta, Canada, and Executive Vice President of Public and Corporate Affairs and Chief Environmental Officer for Keyspan/National Grid. Most recently, he served as the U.S. representative for the Premier of Alberta, deeply involved in energy issues.
Mr. Manning earned a B.A. and L.L.B. in law from the University of Alberta and did post-graduate work in international law at the Australian National University.
